North Vancouver boasts many outdoor recreational opportunities including snowboarding. Lonsdale Quay is home to a fresh food market, bakeries, an international food court, specialty shops featuring local designers, and sit-down restaurants. Deep Cove is an idyllic seaside village where visitors enjoy activities including kayaking and hiking, as well as dining outdoors.

A natural choice

Both North Vancouver municipalities — the City of North Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver -- are safe, family-oriented and multicultural. Our mild West Coast climate and breathtaking natural beauty provide an excellent environment for both in-school and after-school activities.

Living on the North Shore affords students the opportunity to experience everything that British Columbia has to offer:

  • An abundance of parks and natural parkland for every type of recreation.
  • Grouse and Seymour mountains provide lush forests for biking, hiking, and walking, as well as amazing terrain for snowboarding, downhill and cross-country skiing.
  • Deep Cove offers opportunities for sailing and kayaking.
  • Other recreational activities include golfing, skateboarding, hockey, ice skating, tennis, and swimming.
  • The Shipyards features restaurants, cafes, shops and services, space for community events (e.g., concerts and markets), plus the region's largest outdoor skating rink in the winter and a splash park in the summer.

Our proximity to water, mountains (including world-class Whistler and Blackcomb mountains), forested settings, and two North Shore municipalities make North Vancouver a highly desirable destination for international students.

Highly accessible with an excellent public transit system, North Vancouver is also a 20-minute drive from downtown Vancouver, a 45-minute drive from the Vancouver International Airport and a 90-minute drive from Whistler-Blackcomb.
